Mental Health
Scout Enterprises has been involved in the mental health sector since 1991. In this time, members of staff have
developed a great deal of experience and expertise. Their ethos has been to adopt a social model approach to mental
health by focusing on a person’s strengths and attributes, rather than see someone as a collection of symptoms.
It is important to us that everyone is treated as an individual and with respect at all times.
This approach is not only appreciated by the people we work with but also by our contractors who
include the NHS, Social Services, Jobcentre Plus and the European Social Fund.
Our individualised approach means that we tailor our provision to the needs and requirements of
those with whom we work.
Examples of just some of the ways that we help people include:
- Vocational guidance
- Assistance with job search
- Healthy living
- Stress management
- Dedicated one to one advice and guidance
- Walking groups
- Money management
- Work placements
- Liaison with benefit providers
- Confidence building
- Opportunities for socialising
- Supervised trips to places of interest
- Introductions to local groups
In addition to help for clients who may have a mental health problem Scout Enterprises also
delivers mental health awareness training to employers and organisations. It is increasingly recognised
that stress-related health problems is costing the country a huge amount of money and the early
recognition of problems can help by identifying the stress triggers for an individual and providing
adequate support. Mental health problems are now the most common reason for a GP consultation.
